Some maps sure, others don't. A lot of the maps start at HQ -> split into 2-3 lanes -> then go back down as you push towards enemy HQ. For example
Siege of cairo, splits into 3 lanes (mid then north and south). Liberation peak, splits into 3 lanes. One of the large maps I can't remember, but there's a large unbuilt skyscrapper in the middle. That's 3 lanes (middle, sides). Many of the maps are 3 lane based. There are little houses you can hide and camp in, sure. You can cross lanes pretty easy, but the major push routes are ultimately still lane based in my opinion. I think the main thing BF capitalizes on more is probably verticality?
