Even though we both repeatedly agreed that we should keep things casual... yeah, he caught feelings pretty fast. I did too, tbh, but it was tempered by me feeling guilty over feeling like I was taking advantage of the kid and had too much power over him.

Maybe if we hadn't also been related we could've tried to make a romantic relationship work, despite the age gap? But me being his uncle... yeah, there's no way we could've "dated"... we would've had to keep it secret indefinitely, and while I'm fine being in the closet I didn't want him to have to go back to that after he'd already gone through the drama of coming out.

A combination of time, pressure from the rest of the family, and the shame of having his kid brother financially supporting his son, all eventually got my brother to chill out and mostly make up with my nephew. At least enough to restore his college funding.

He wanted to stay with me, but I encouraged him to move out and do the dorm life thing and find proper boyfriends. We continued hooking up when he was out on breaks, but about a year ago he did finally find a guy his own age that he's going steady with now. I miss doing stuff with him, but they're a cute couple so I hope it works out.
