Decartes would've been my beloved if he just admitted that the physical (the brain) and the mental (the soul) interact through the process of the mind and weren't totally separate. it's like a TV receiving a signal and showing an image. the quality, age, and deterioration of the TV can affect the image transmitted by the signal, but the signal itself is unharmed.
