It's kind of lame that these two characters gets absolutely shafted by the story ebcause they aren't waifu bait characters.
Ranamon claimed that she killed the chief so that's why Kuroi was so eager on genociding all the digimon in the human world, but apparently he actually survived and is just heavily injured but he never appeared in the story again (though I've read that there might be some translation issues and he actually died in the JP dub?).
But at the end of the game a digimon saved Kuroi from the giant robot going berserk and throwing him out and apparently that was enough to make him change his mind.
