>got to get rid of that age filter, it's ageist
Has anyone ever told you that you think in quite black-and-white terms? Anyway, even though it doesn't seem like it, I share your butthurt. I've had to spend days writing code to enforce laws I disagree with, which I know will drive users away instead of (in my opinion) protecting people. But the laws just aren't going away. In fact more countries will be adopting them soon. Australia will have similar laws within this year. Other countries in the EU will adopt similar laws too. So far in the US, Utah requires age verification too (though the burden is on app stores). I'm not sure if the rest of the US will follow, but I bet they eventually will. Though to play devil's advocate, how do I know I'm not talking to an LLM unless you hand over your ID? Plenty of users already try to get past Duolicious' verification using AI pics. One day it'll be impossible to tell the difference
