Yeah I think the devs mentioned that the emphasis introducing females that Link can never attain due to his duties as a hero was to emphasize the amount of stuff Link has to sacrifice. The hero can't act on this young farm girl's gentle flirting or this young ruto's advances. He's got a job to do and has to focus on his quest
