After a second playthrough I finally see it, you are seething not because the game is bad (gameplay wise it's literally the best entry in the classic mgs formula with expanded movement, more toys to play with and all the mechanics from the previous games reaching their peak) but because it's about (You), the faggot that got older since he first met snake as a kid.
>Complete deconstruction of the character of Snake. He's old and dying and the once legendary hero is literally falling apart in front of your eyes. The only sentiment that it provokes in the player is pity and putting yourself into a big microwave to stop the increasing suffering with each chapter. The melancholic music couldn't fit any better.
>The once epic and edgy intros of jumping from a bridge on the tanker with lighting bolts and all reduced to old snake barely standing on his own after getting down from a helicopter. The torch is passed to the next generation that gets to live on, it's the badass Raiden that you hated so much in mgs2 who gets to shoot lighting bolts and save Snake's ass. You can easily draw many parallels between other games in the serires like this, the shadow moses chapter is on a whole new level.
>The game is much more serious in tone (despite the B&B post-fight and all that), the snake that used to comment on the size of Meryl's butt is no more.
I could go on and on but just like mgs2 had the discourse around it change over time it's time for them to drop mgs4 in master collection vol. 2 or vol. 3 so that others could experience it too and see it (and hate it because it's speaking to the player) for it is, my old ps3 slim is legit not taking it very well.
I'm sorry uncs but this is Kojima's way to tell you to fuck off to the retirement board >>>/vr/ and stop nagging on everyone around you. You got your time and fun with edgy cool snake, now it's time to put that shit aside and think about the future.
