I first started using /vg/ because of /pg/ then migrated to /gig/ around P5's never ending filler spin-offs wave. Genshin is game with a nice artstyle, cute girls + handsome males and a fun overworld, so what's there not to like about it? I just wouldn't play something like BA/AL since I'm not a lesbian coomer. I don't mind an official male protags, though it's fun to bully aether self-inserts.
