I'm also 26 and I'm queued up to be the team lead after the current guy. I hold an MBA and the idea was really only floated bc I took over management responsibilities like project tracking, delivered some mid-visibility projects, and generally care about the success of the team. But at my work its kinda startup like and I wouldn't expect this at your mid-large companies.
