>Why anyone would buy DRM locked american trash
You just triggered my military autism. I want to talk about this because I find it interesting. That's what you'd think as someone that has an interest in weapons, right? But ultimately, the people that approve the purchases are the politicians of any given country. So more often than not, what happens is that they buy whatever is supposed to have a minimal standard sugested by their military guys, while prioritising buying stuff to countries they have good relations with, or want to appease. This sometimes backfires, because what they get might not even make sense for that countries defensive strategy, or even geography. A while back, Taiwan approved a multi-billion dollar purchase of hundreds of tanks from the US. This was most likely done to appeal to US leadership, since they were sort of sidelined due to Ukraine and Israel. I find that hilarious:
>Tanks
>On this day and age where they serve a mostly supporting role
>More likely to be used against mainland China, drone capital of the world
>In Taiwan, which is mostly composed of jungles and a largely urbanized coastline
There's absolutely no role they could play on an invasion scenario that couldn't be achieved by cheaper assets. On a final note on how politicians decide what weapons to buy, there's also a lot of bribes, depending on the country. This "should we buy X or Y system" is how servicemen and military nerds think. Politicians have their own concerns.
