It's mechanically sound. The jumping, drifting and the shortcuts are very well implemented and the tracks are relatively fantastic. I do think that it's getting compared to MK8's enormous track list of almost 100 tracks when that game had time to marinate with both the Wii U era and the Switch era so it's very skewed. I do think what kills it though is the battle modes and for some intermissions though I just enjoy it like mario party.
