In that time the Ukrainian army's back has been broken, they are now weak enough that when the "Bunny Ears" breakthrough in the Dobropilyia direction happened, Ukraine was not able to counter-attack until it transfered half a dozen elite brigades to the area from all over the contact line, that is to say they had no elite mobile reserve ready to swoop in.
This wasn't the case earlier in the war when Ukraine always had mobile reserves ready to fight fires, they have become noticably weaker while the size of the Russia army in Ukraine has only grown since then and gotten more advanced.
What happens when the next big breakthrough happens somewhere else but Ukraine's last-resort brigades are still tied down around Dobropilyia? It won't be pretty.
