I don't dislike Yoshika and quite like her boob fiend phase, but I agree Hikari is probably better protag overall. She has a nice arc and I feel like she's less of a "safe" mc if that makes any sense, as she squabbles with people all the time and overall feels to have somehow more agency

No but yes, it's complicated. We can have threads but he still monitors them intensively and tries to fuck with them. It's really strange. This one time I was bumping the thread, so he started using his janny privilege to send me messages where he pleaded that I stop bumping the thread. I guess there must've been some janny power overhaul because he wouldn't have done that if he had some way to kill the thread directly. And there's a lot more but it's mostly just strange nowadays
