Mechanically USUM is better with all the post game content and access to move tutors/more pokemon.
But for a normal play though, USUM is trash and has plot holes that makes the plot of Arceus and the Jewel of Life look coherent.
If you want to play a game, SM is the way to go. If you want to train a team and become a competitive battler, USUM wins hands down.
