I love the "noblewoman becomes a slave" slavery trope. I especially like it when she's initially resistant, because she was sold to pay off her family's debts/some other reason, and slowly has to cope with the loss of her status as a human and the fact that she will never again wear the fine silks of nobility, but rather the barely-concealing rags of a slave (if even that). The heavy collar at her neck is a constant reminder that from now until her death, her flesh is simply the property of another, no matter how desperately she may wish to be returned her freedom.
