Notre Dame and Auburn have announced a series against each other in 2027 (South Bend) and 2028 (Auburn). The two schools have never played each other. In the pre tie-in era, they were matched up several times for bowl games but Notre Dame declined the invites. This wasn't necessarily ND trying to duck Auburn but rather the school's policy at the time to only accept bids to the top most bowl games.
