I'll much rather take my lessons on what the Church is from the fathers who lived close to the time of the apostles, none of which taught any of the things that protestant reformers teach, which itself can only stand by quote mining the fathers while presupposing things like sola fide and sola scriptura.
Consider this: what does faith mean to the early Church fathers who all truly believe in the real presence? It's not that by taking part in the eucharist you're somehow doing works, but that that itself is a critical part of the faith.
You've been fed lies of Constantine by imposters that came 1500 after the Church was established, whom decided they know better because they had valid criticism against the papacy that we'd agree with, but are ultimately the product of a monk in the 1500s who became prideful and decided to reinvent the wheel.
The first thing that should clue you in on this is how protestantism adheres to the Masoretic text, which came from the jews that had already rejected Christ, which is one reason for their rejecting the Deuterocanon which contains a clear prophecy for Christ, rather than using the Septuagint that Paul himself quotes.
Luther wanted something that would adhere to his presuppositions, and conveniently the Deuterocanon also contains passages that reasset the status of the Theotokos, and by throwing them out he can undermine her. All under claim that these post-Christ jews know better.

I can tell you were a protestant or a Vatican II catholic before, or just completely inundated with the post-schismatic theology of the western denominations in general.
The early Christian worldview, as in not the "same god" prennialist nonsense the aforementioned groups put forward these days, expressly denies that we worship the same God.
The early Church fathers would say to such a claim that if they, jews, do not profess the Trinity, including Christ, then they have critically misunderstood their own book, the Old Testament, as revealing God as trinitarian, and the form of God that the prophets and patriarchs saw as pre-incarnate Christ as well.
Therefore, the Church fathers would argue, what jews worship after their denial of Christ, after Christ has become incarnate in part just to tell them the reality of their God and faith, is that the jewish god after the rejection is either made up or a demon.
Only western dupes promoting inter-religion ecumenism go along with this kumbaya indifferentialism. And all this applies to muslims as well since they claim the OT is what Allah revealed before.
This "same god" problem stems from early Church theology being all but lost due to later absolute divine simplicity doctrines in the west, which is incompatible with the early Church essence-energy distinction, which itself can be found written down all the way back in the writings of St. Cyril of Alexandria in the 400s, way before even St. Gregory Palamas.
