>I'd just like to know the reason why people in the comic are so prone to always take Lucy's side no matter what.

I figured it was just wish fulfillment on Taeshi's end. Everyone trips over themselves to please her, if you slight her then you get punished ten times as hard, and she can really do what she wants without long term consequence.

>I just don't get why the question of who eats lunch where is being given such dramatic weight in a comic where one character almost got raped by a mexican gang member and another's mother got beaten in front of him and then died on the operating table.

To be fair, the former is coming back into relevancy, although it's being done sloppily. The latter was such a situation that I'm sure Abbey was written out because his issues were more grounded and serious than the rest of the group's. To answer the main question, it's a thing with teenagers. Lunch groups are basically THE friend groups you tend to have in high school a lot of the time. For a teenager, it can be a serious thing because eating alone hits you with the 'No friends' label. That and certain grade levels dont really interact with each other.

Seniors see freshmen as too immature and all that. They can handle sophomores a bit more. But that's from my own personal experiences.
>Also would this whole thing not be resolved by Mike eating lunch with Abbey and his pair-the-spare freshman girlfriend. They get along well AND he doesn't secretly want to fuck Mike.

In theory, yes. But as stated above, this comic has shown that Mike cannot get away from lucy and the others. Either something will drag him back to them or one of them will come along and insert themselves into the situation and make things worse for mike like what David did with James.

his suffering cannot be avoided.

Even Taeshi admitted that they would work really well if they landed together, but also that she really doesn't like this ship. Don't remember if those two facts are directly tied together or not, it was too long ago
