It gets a little better... it used to take me 6 months, each, too, but I got four La-9s in slightly over 10 months. Ever since I hit 100% collection, I've had cubes and coins to burn. I can do the expensive cube researches until I've hit dev30 with everyone, then switch to picking every Rigging Analysis research mission I can. Or coin-based research if not. Outside of events I have plenty of coins since I don't have to limit break anyone anymore.

Anon's talking about getting gear through research. You're talking about buying them in the prototype core shop. For other anon, after 1(?) year each rainbow gear gets put in the prototype shop but you can only buy enough blueprints for one copy.
