Enemy design and Combat design are vastly less coherent than KH1. Cutscenes still switch to the lame "texture mouth" design too soon. The world design is worse than KH1 and flattens all environments out into hallways because the devs thought locking all of your movement abilities behind the most tedious grind in the series was a good idea (it wasn't). Revenge Value isn't communicated to the player in any meaningful way despite being vital to later bossfights. AntiForm is conceptually cool, but a bad system that serves only to punish you for using core system mechanics. Every party member is nerfed so hard compared to KH1 that they're functionally worthless outside of their limits. Critical Mode is fun but ultimately a bandaid fix that doesn't address most of the actual issues with the game. Roxas has that one reversal attack where he throws out his keyblades that's near-unreactable and it's kind of bullshit. The Goofy "death" cutscene is stupid and the manga executed it better by burying him under a rock slide.

Still one of the best games on the PS2, though.
