>if she only targeted evil humans who hate monsters.
To be fair to her, her victims almost always are humans coming to the island to hunt Monsters from how it's set up. The reason the Engineer/Scientist comes across as so sympathetic is because she dislikes the Knights more than she does the party, her biggest crime was taking money from them to make things (and pay for a shared vacation with her friends), she doesn't really do anything that bad of her own free will since the Knight Commander had essentially brainwashed her to control the mecha due to finding her annoying, and the crime that she IS punished for is something that's very clearly not her fault, and part of the reason the Roper knows it's not her fault is because she could've cleared it up at any time and chose not to do so because she was hiding off-screen until she felt like she could have a chance to "punish" her and then took it.
So the Scientist just comes across as someone who got victim blamed.

There are other girls who have (much, much) worse things happen to them, but none of them are even remotely as sympathetic as Lottie is, and the people punishing them either do come across as very justified in their actions (the Bee Queen for example essentially Beelzebub's someone but she makes it extremely clear she's doing this because that person among other things KILLED SOME OF HER CHILDREN) or are just people who actually are enjoying sex for the purpose of sex (the Orc and Succubus).

.....that being said, when they do finally show what Nel's "normal targets" are like, well, pic related is the entirety of the pre-rape conversation.
Maybe if they didn't give these from the POV of the victims, it would mitigate the problem.
At least she apologized at first, though?
I don't know.
