Why on earth didn't past East Africans develop a maritime culture?(Bantus or previous Khoisan)
I mean the Polynesians started around 3000BCE and the ancestors of indigenous Haitians (Taíno, Arawa) were seafaring at 4000BCE.
Like literally, I mean the first settlers in Madagascar were Austronesian in 300CE. In particular I am confused as to why the bantus before 1000CE never crossed the 400 km Channel in the Indian Ocean perhaps starting near Sebastião and ending up in Mahajanga.
I find it easy to understand that the Khoisan groups never seafared while in those territories for 80 kya because they tended to move from place to place as they were nomadic hunter gatherers (khoi later on were pastorial) and hunter gatherers aren't as technologically complex as pastorialists.
