Japan built Sonic heavily on themes such as environmentalism and pro-freedom ideals. And yet, in just a year, Americans swooped in to introduce Sonic's obsession with chili dogs, which was later integrated into the games. Chili dogs are made via the mass-enslavement and slaughtering of pigs, which are extremely intelligent animals who feel pain and sadness just like we do. Americans saw a story about freeing animals from cruel exploitative captivity and chose to make Sonic's favorite food a product of that very exploitation. From the very beginning, America has repeatedly subverted and undermined Sonic's core messages and principles. If Americans had their way Sonic's genius design would have been trashed in favor of a design inspired by California Raisins. No zoomer has ever heard of California Raisins because it's not a timeless design. Just as Eggman is meddling with nature, American influence has been meddling with Sonic's original spirit. The message of Sonic is to leave things in their natural state, to cherish freedom and unspoiled beauty, yet Americans, driven by egotistical narcissism, attempt to forcibly reshape these ideals. Sonic's love of chili dogs is a symbol of corruption, oppression, and industrialization. If you think about it, JP purists are like Sonic, steadfast in their desire to protect and preserve things as they are, while Americans embody Eggman in that they attempt to destroy and alter the natural state of the franchise for their own gain.
