I was using an input image at low denoise. Illustrious has a problem where it loves to make really samey compositions, so I was experimenting with feeding random junk SD1.5 as a latent image with denoises between 0.6-0.85 and seeing what happens. If you do this, you can get way more interesting compositions, at the cost of really funky anatomy problems (see Supergirl's neck) or otherwise issues like what you've pointed out. Sometimes the latent upscale on the hiresfix shuffles things around just barely enough, but sometimes you'd need too high a denoise to save it, at which point you lose the composition without a controlnet (thus not being able to fix anatomy anyway). Pic related is another example, where the cape and motorcycle/tractor are nonsense but the composition "keeps," in a way IL would never output from a conventional empty latent.
I wouldn't have posted it, until I remembered the "Please Don't Reveal the Secret of Superman's NEW Power" cover where the twist is that he can shoot a tiny Superman from his fingers, and the Smiling Friends bit.

Using the fire playfully is so fun. Great costume for her.
