Why the fuck would you ever pick anything other than the Monado or Keyblade? They're the only ones that have functionality, assuming being able to choose them means you don't have to deal with the side effects they have on people that aren't the chosen one.
Plus, with the keyblade, every time you make an important emotional connection with someone, sometimes you just get a free keychain that changes how it looks. That shit's cool, it's like having a million swords in one.
