No you fucking don’t, Japanese people love cartoons that look western, it’s what inspires them to make anime series in the first place, and why it’s important that western animation keeps its cultural identity and takes influence from classic and 90’s cartoons, which were arguably the best ages for American cartoons. Some stuff you wouldn’t expect like Happy Tree Friends and Pickle and Peanut are fucking loved in Japan.

Most fakime shows appear rather cheap looking just like 90% of modern cartoons due, their animation is nowhere near anime-level quality.
