Their calculus is quite simple: select a cause sufficiently fashionable to elicit applause yet safe enough to pose no risk of ostracism or material cost. I'd respect them if they were so hellbent on destroying Mare Fair, but they aren't, they don't really care about shutting something down, but they do care about social validation.
