We could have the MC struggling with his humanity due to the suppressed nature of his emotions as an artificial being created to navigate and resist chaos, his guidance keeping the combatants sane as much as the combatants themselves keep him in touch with his own humanity as he works to support them through trauma he inherently can't truly relate to due to his nature, but slowly learning humanity nonetheless through them.
