The EU has adopted its 19th package of sanctions against Russia, targeting the energy sector, financial institutions, and the military industry. The new measures are intended to increase pressure on the Kremlin and make it harder to finance the war.
The following are now prohibited:
▪ Import and transfer of Russian LNG (starting in 2027);
▪ Tourist services in Russia;
▪ Cooperation with Russia’s special economic zones;
▪ Operations involving five Russian banks;
▪ Provision of crypto services to Russian citizens;
▪ Entry to EU ports for 117 Russian vessels;
▪ Export of goods and technologies for Russia’s military-industrial and industrial sectors.
Additionally, 63 new individuals and entities have been added to the sanctions list, and travel controls for Russian diplomats within the EU have been tightened.
