Saunas are not actually exclusive to Finland, they used to be general to most of Europe. The UK used to have one in every household, but they were murdered by modern showers. Rather, only certain countries have bothered to preserve them. They are particularly pointless in America where everyone has central heating. In pre-modern times they might be the only place you could comfortably get undressed without freezing.
