Use a neodymium embedded into the brace, design a recess for it in blender.
Then you can use a little piece of fridge magnet backing on the gun which won't be obtrusive.
The MagSafe ring for Android phones would also work.

Take inspiration from car/phone magnetic holders and rings/stands for phones.
