The playerbase definitely leans towards more veterans than newcomers. If you've played anime fighters before than I think it isn't too hard to adapt to and pick up since the buffer windows are pretty generous and only like 5-6 characters out of 27 require a bit more effort to learn. The mission modes teach decently practical combos too.
Problem is finding people around your level and while most player rooms I see are hosted by beginners, a large percentage of the playerbase skulk around in Ranked Mode. /v/ plays UNI2 regularly on weekends but as you'd expect from guys who've played together for like 7 years, they're far from beginners.
