One Piece is a victim of the Naruto syndrome by a part of the fanbase who were traumatized by the Neji fight. They now cannot stop projecting their loser lives on cartoon characters and call "nepotism" every attempt at One Piece doing mythology by relating characters to each others and talking about awakened powers, because this is what you have to do when your characters will influence their whole world. They want stories about hobos because there will be "no nepotism" according to them.
