i actually enjoyed the way megumin's relationship with retard-kun was drawn out and ambiguous

it was more like they mutually confessed in a nothingburgerish way and already knew they liked each other. but then they were too mutually retarded about relationships to do anything serious and mostly remained as close friends who sometimes flirt.

that's actually better than when characters are just hardcore dating and going on dates etc. i find that boring for some reason. like in bakemonogatari.
maybe because it reminds me too much of vapid IRL dating "culture"
