His take on homosexuality is one you don't hear often anymore. Its not just what he says, but what he doesn't say. I don't think he is closeted, but that doesn't mean he isn't devoid of degenerate thoughts either, and there is sort of an implied issue with his chastity. For all his talk of homosexuality, he rarely mentions heterosexual sodomy or masturbation. I have reminded him in comments that the Catholic tradition does not mean chastity is intended for the convenience of a 27 year old man to delay building a family just because he hates kids, women and spending money. Thats only barely more noble than promiscuity. Its still the priority of the self over society.
Aside from all the vibes he gives, theres also his take that homosexuality isnt especially unique, but just one variation of degeneracy. A lot of people have lost that perspective.
Which is sort of a confession of his inner thoughts. If you don't see homosexual interest as unique, it means you think everyone is capable of that intuitive empathy.
Something else that doesnt get talked about often is that boys raised in sex segregated education develop differently, which is why religious communities do it.
It seems to have the effect of producing an environment that its almost certain to be conducive for same sex exploration to occur earlier from curiosity and shielding them from female selective pressure during personality formation. Yet ironically, because of it, by the time they are introduced to female company in adolescence, the curiosity for same sex exploration is gone and the new curiosity for socially approved female company is quite ardent.
I think thats why Catholic school guys have that peculiar dichotomy of same sex empathy but lower self identified homosexuals and more virile families. Same with muslims.
