To un-extinct an animal like the company Colossal has done, an embryo is injected with a chemical which temporarily forces it to accept anything. Ancient genome sequences are given which aligns with patterns it already has, and it begins to follow the older instructions like a dire wolf instead of a modern wolf.

Such a thing is possible with humans, and around a decade ago China gave twins higher intelligence and resistance to HIV. Humans have 46 chromosomes; 2 of them being sex chromosomes, the other 44 being non sex-related called autosomes (still a chromosome). Imagine the chromosomes being bookcases in a library, containing all of the genome sequences or books. What determines the writing on these books is if the embryo is given testosterone or estrogen.

In principle / theory, it would be possible to use an artificial womb to house a male embryo, and then externally douse it in estrogen within the artificial chamber so that despite having male bookcases, it has female written books on those male bookcases. That means women can’t be pro gamers in league or other games because the text in the books they own (genome sequences) in their internal bookcases (chromosomes) do not contain the same material that male chromosomes do which were drenched in testosterone.

A mule has 45 chromosomes and a horse has 46. The reason hybrids are sterile is because the chromosomes do not align with each other. If someone was to inject a mule embryo with a genome sequence that the horse and mule both know from far back, and used that to create an additional bookcase making equal 46’s (which is possible) …. Then in theory hybridization of non-sterile animals is possible. The reason why hybrids are sterile is because 1 of the 2 animals cannot read every chromosome properly, and it comes out as a fucked up animal. If you created another bookcase for the mule though that the horse could also understand from far back, that would be something else entirely.
