>decide to watch some video about a Minecraft horror story (World that doesn't exist)
>Interesting plot with actual subtle horror. The "monster" never appears and in fact doesn't even really do anything besides existing, but you KNOW he's there through subtle stuff you can actually notice if you pay attention
>Protagonist guy is smart. Like, actually capable of thinking smart. Sets out traps with multiple layers, realizes stuff quickly BUT isn't some Sherlock Holmes magic man. Genuinely good depiction of a smart person aside from one singular scene.
>Actually interesting ending that left me wanting more
So of course, I was all "Damn. This is cool. Let's see more of this genre." And I pick the second most popular one from the same channel
>LE CORPORATION CREEPY SCIENTIST RESEARCH MEN
>LE ULTRA SPOOKY SCREEN BUGS
>REDACTED REDACTED CENSORED REDACTED
>LE GAME EFFECTS YOU...IN REAL LIFE, OoOoOoOo
Bloody hell the difference. Is it just this video or are they all like this? How do I find the good stuff? The stories that know subtlety, atmosphere, and character writing? That know real horror isn't from some spooky monster jumping at the screen or some crazy entity that kills people but a sense of eerieness, of uncertainty, of fear of the unknown?
