My father was a rampant alcoholic in my early childhood and beat me frequently, although it was stupid kid shit I would be doing when he would hit me. He almost died one night when I was around 10 or so and he has been sober ever since.

I can't hate him because he's my father, and we have been back on track, but it was pretty fucked up.
