Too much fucking around with manuals and pointless busywork for a mech pilot power fantasy. Press this button to enable weapon selection, press these two buttons together to swap targets, walk in a straight line for 15 minutes until you reach your objective, push this other button to ask the laser cannon's pronouns or it won't fire, push this button to make your mech shart out its coolant if it overheats, etc.
And then when the gameplay finally happens it's the most boring shit you've ever seen. Pretentious to a T.

I was going to say modern game have simplistic control, but if we are honest, new game simply learned to have more efficient keys combination and didn't use buttons for pointless feature.
