Wait, this actually got a manga but no LN? This kind of stuff where the LN version is skipped entirely in favor of a manga version or where something with an axed LN gets a manga years later (e.g. pic related) seems to become more popular lately. Is it because of the success of Shangri-La?
I guess getting 20k sales as manga is just far more profitable than the pitiful 1k-2k (or less) that most LNs receive even if printing text is probably cheaper than manga panels, though that's just physical. We have too little data on whether the same applies to digital manga/LN or not, but seeing this growing trend to skip the LN entirely or ignore the LN's previous failing seems to indicate that in the digital space manga are also doing much better than LNs.
