Soldiers when heavily entrenched in fortified places, are surprisingly hard to remove. They are there to hold ground and when able, take it. Drones just clear the way and prevent enemy forces from being able to go on the attack and (re)capture ground.
That is why undermanned, under-supplied hohol forces can last so long VS well supplied, fully manned Russian units who have to spend a lot of effort in form of artillery, aerial bombardment and drones to eradicate the hohol strongholds.
