have you considered that perhaps the reason why the apocalypse/end of days/second coming happens is because Earth finally gets to the point where no more worthwhile humans can possibly be born/salvaged because humanity has become so sinful again? Jesus does say afterall

the flood is supposed to have happened because humanity was just that irredeemably bad, so maybe the countdown to when the apocalypse/second coming happens is actually 'when the world finally runs out of being able to produce good people'

Revelation does describe the final days as being really really bad where almost everyone is worshipping the Beast/Satan and it has become near-impossible not to, afterall
