The government doesn't need to make fake violent protests to pass laws. This is a democracy, and in a democracy, citizens have no say over the government. All they need to do is pass some new censorship nonsense and say "it's for your safety" and no one will argue with them. They don't even need to justify it.
The bigger issue with this protest is that the government doesn't feel a need to listen to protests. What will happen if they don't?
