This was always plan of the orignal plan, Deshret's lore makes it pretty obvious that Celestia is some kind of technologically advanced spaceship.
The problem is that they spent all these regions with 0 buildup for the sci-fi side of the lore, and now that they finally need to start doing reveals for the next parts of the story it feels super out of place because it comes from nowhere because they delayed the story for too long.
What a shitshow.
