i dont actually have a problem with the video, the guy is just an eceleb summerizing this other guys findings and doesn't have a lot of his own commentary. it's just a sauce for the results of the thai guy for anyone who cares
>start english but move to JP-JP cards.
this sounds primo. I really wish there was more material for ALG/immersion for listening only. podcasts can only do so much. I know blind people can learn language, so there has to be a way forward regardless, but I definately feel that there is an element of truth and falseness to the claim, since I experiance both the problem (road block to learning preceeded by extensive period of cognitive study IE """"Japanese class""""") and the benefit (being able to think in japanese easily due to having some early stage immersion (visiting japan)
Anyway this makes the most sense and I will see your post as a soft confirmation that, at best, english definitions in adjacency to flash cards are actually bad and a cruch and equivelant to training wheels, and remove them as soon as able. So rather than abandon anki I should abandon English, and pretend I am actually someone who doesn't even know a 1st language when reviewing study material after a minimal critical mass has been gained.
