In the grand scheme, like zooming out, it is a hyper specific time frame to be borne in and have access to and lead to online discussion boards, particularly one of occult, spiritual, or paranormal interest. I picture everyone born in this here and now as a wide lake. Full of life, some life evaporates, some new lives pour in. To float around /x/'s "deep" waters I do believe there are similarities between all of us, usually gifted/neurodiv, not often rich or wealthy (thus more moral and life questions you had to ponder or solve), and a deep appreciation for that which came before and a haunting responsibility to sow better seeds for the after the future. Mainstream (heh) waters available to most really only drag you into consumption, jealousy, comparison, and many other wastes of time and energy (emotional too). 4chan is admittedly generally awful as well, but /x/ and a few other niche boards serve as a safe havens for the spiritually curious. Dialouge is important, and anonymity allows ideas to stand on their own. The philosophy "subreddit" (reddit, so often compared to the chans and rightfully so they seem to foil here even culturally) likely won't engage with many of the more extreme - but very real - topics or debates we can have here.
