That reminds me of a time I took care of these birds as a teen after their parent birds never came back. Gave it two days, they were barely responsive by the time I intervened. They nested in a wreath on our front door. I named them slug bird, average bird and adventurous bird. They sleep when it's dark, and need slowly decreasing attention during the day, averaging every 20 mins if they can get it.
I gave them to a rehab place once I located one as they just gained real feathers, along with $200 donated for care. Average bird did okay I think, just a bird. Adventurous bird flew back to my house once they grew up.
Slug bird, turns out, was paralyzed, so they euthanized them. I'd rather that than swallowed by a snake, but it still sucked.
Thanks for reading my ted talk.

Sorry to hear OP. The more you love them, the more it hurts. It'll get statistically easier after three years, but take time now.
