Yeah that sounds like an incredibly big investment for a hobby. I'd just focus on making the current one the best it can be, for now anyways.

Also about the ending. Issa's cowgirl doujin just did something I really liked where she decided against a sex slavery bad ending, but since it was alluded to earlier there's a non-canon bonus of it. Nothing major, just a single "what if" page. I think something like that would be perfect for your project.
