I don't think a console franchise has ever been this badly mismanaged.

Even SEGA's consoles were at the very least underdogs behind the giants of Nintendo and Sony. Microsoft basically had all the major hits of the 2000s console generations land on their lap as exclusives, outright win one of those console generations and then squander it all on gimmicks that they didn't even have the stones to stand behind. From king to nobody in a decade. Amazing.
