The UK Home Office attempted to deport a Tajik citizen back to his home country, but the Asylum Court ruled that he may be entitled to international protection in the UK because of his beard

Beards are unofficially banned by the government in Tajikistan. It is reported that citizens of the country are arrested and forcibly shaved, which is what the Tajik man used as an excuse to avoid deportation"
